Unlikely Praise for UFO File Release
As President Trump faces unexpected support from some lawmakers regarding the release of UAP files, it seems to have punctured the continuous anti-Trump sentiments among Congressional Democrats.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), known for her critical stance against Trump and her role in the Senate’s Democratic campaign group, expressed her approval on Friday. She remarked, “transparency is the only path to truth,” referring to the newly released images and videos.
However, she also took credit for influencing this action. Gillibrand stated, “I am encouraged that the government has finally heeded my call and the calls of millions of Americans to begin releasing these files,” adding her long-standing push for the declassification of UAP files.
“While this is an important step, there is still much work to be done,” she continued. “I will keep advocating to ensure the administration meets its legal duties to the American people.”
The recently released Trump administration files are now accessible on a new website: war.gov/UFO.
The contents include records related to UAPs, such as mysterious lights observed during the Apollo 12 missions in 1969 and during Apollo 17 in 1972. This release is anticipated to be just the first of many, stirring interest among podcasters, UFO enthusiasts, and cable news channels alike, even catching the attention of mainstream media like CBS News.
In the announcement, made during the president’s earlier directive from February, Trump emphasized on True Social that, “the Department of the Army has released the first portion of the UFO/UAP files to the public for review and study. It was my honor to direct the government to identify and provide government files regarding aliens and extraterrestrials for full transparency.” He also noted that past administrations had not been as forthcoming, stating these documents would help the public understand what’s really happening.
The Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, confirmed on Friday that the administration would push forward with declassification efforts.
Support for the administration’s actions is also evident among Republican lawmakers. Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) stated, “Americans deserve transparency, accountability, and access to information about UAPs that the government has hidden from the public for decades,” calling this a “huge step in the right direction.”
Similarly, Representative Eric Burleson (R-Missouri) labeled the move as “historic” and expressed hope that it would lead to more disclosures.
Furthermore, Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) mentioned that he personally urged the president to release the files, claiming to have viewed materials from secret meetings at various intelligence agencies, suggesting there’s more shocking content yet to be unveiled.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) appreciated the release but hinted that the Trump administration’s transparency record leaves something to be desired. He noted, “For decades, UFO revelations have remained remote, unidentified and unexplained…I’ll keep moving forward until I get to the truth.”
As previously reported, interest in UFOs surged significantly in 2017 when a secret Pentagon unit began studying the phenomenon, a fact that was revealed by the New York Times. This led to a more serious consideration of UFOs, especially after Pentagon drone footage showcased their unusual flight patterns.
The Trump administration has previously released classified material, including information regarding President John F. Kennedy’s assassination and the disappearance of aviator Amelia Earhart, further adding to the speculation surrounding historical government secrets.
