Reaction to Charlie Kirk’s Murder
Matt Gutman, a correspondent from ABC News, had a notably intrusive response regarding the recent murder of Charlie Kirk. He described a text message sent by the alleged assassin to their transgender partner as “very touching.”
“It was quite moving in a way that many might not have anticipated,” Gutman remarked. He described the message as an intimate snapshot of the bond between the suspect and their roommate, where terms of endearment like “my love” were used, alongside the chilling declaration, “I want to protect you, my love.”
This situation presents a stark duality, putting not only Charlie Kirk’s life in jeopardy but also resulting in dangerous circumstances by involving a child, adding to the complexities of the case.
Interestingly, Gutman had faced suspension in the past for incorrectly reporting Kobe Bryant’s death, but this instance required him to piece information together in real-time. This aspect shocked the executive producer of “The Steve Dees Show.”
As Dees noted, Gutman’s comments appeared to flow organically, indicating he wasn’t merely repeating a narrative but rather processing the information live—attending a press conference where such insights were shared.
“Let’s be honest; this situation is reminiscent of a classic narrative—two boys meet, exchanging long messages. One declares, ‘I’m going to kill Charlie Kirk now.’ It’s a bizarre form of communication people engage in,” he added.
