Texas Man Dies in Steakhouse Parking Lot, Family Claims Staff Assumed He was Homeless
A Texas man has tragically died in a steakhouse parking lot after, reportedly, the staff assumed he was a homeless person and failed to call for medical help. This claim comes from his grieving family.
According to the Houston Police Department, Jesse Mobley Jr. fell asleep after dining at KFFO Afro Steakhouse in Houston and was later found by employees outside.
Instead of contacting emergency services, the restaurant staff believed Mobley was a vagrant, as police described the situation.
The 34-year-old, who lived with his aunt, was declared dead outside a strip mall near Eldridge and West Oaks shortly after 9 a.m. on August 7, 2025.
Students from a nearby beauty school discovered Mobley on their way to class, which led to the unfortunate revelation of his condition.
Mobley’s aunt, Charlene Fogg Drake, expressed her outrage over the restaurant’s failure to take action that may have saved her nephew’s life.
“Why didn’t you call 911? People need to be held accountable,” she stated in an interview, highlighting her frustration.
The owner of the steakhouse did not comment on the incident, according to reports.
The exact cause of death has not been determined as authorities await the autopsy results.
Mobley’s parents, who have faced deep loss in the past 13 years, are left questioning why the restaurant did not offer immediate assistance.
“You shouldn’t just assume if someone is in distress, especially if you’re not sure what’s wrong,” his mother, Rennie, told local media.
Jesse Mobley Sr., affectionately known as “Big Jesse,” is dealing with his own health struggles while coping with the family tragedy, having faced multiple heart attacks and strokes in recent years.
According to his parents, by the time they were able to see Mobley’s body, the condition was horrific – changes in his skin color and decay were evident.
After Mobley was cremated, his parents brought the ashes back home to Spring, Texas, about 25 miles from Houston.
Fogg-Drake mentioned that she has attempted to set up memorials with flowers and candles for her nephew, but they have been repeatedly dismantled.
She also shared plans for a special dinner to honor him, noting that he passed away just a week before his 35th birthday.
