Trump Labels Antifa as Terrorist Organization

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, a Republican from Maryland, along with several other GOP lawmakers, voiced strong backing for President Donald Trump’s recent designation of Antifa as a terrorist organization. They have also called for investigations into the group’s funding sources.

Trump described Antifa as a “diseased, dangerous, radical disaster” and emphasized the importance of scrutinizing those who financially support the group. He claimed this action would serve to reveal the true nature of society.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comments on this declaration.

In support of Trump’s stance, Harris stated, “President Trump is right. Antifa is a dangerous and radical group that thrives in chaos and violence. Rightly declaring them as terrorist organizations will help protect our communities. It’s crucial to investigate those funding them and completely halt lawlessness.”

The House Freedom Caucus account amplified Harris’ remarks, along with posts from other Republican members.

Some GOP senators, such as Rick Scott from Florida and Mike Lee from Utah, also expressed gratitude towards the president. Scott remarked, “Antifa has left our country’s cities in chaos for too long. This was a 100% correct move. Thank you, @Potus!” Lee added, with a touch of metaphor, that “Antifa is like a group of arsonists pretending to be firefighters.” He thanked Trump for the designation of Antifa as a major terrorist organization.

In the broader context, the Republican Party is also pursuing legislation that could potentially threaten federal funding for so-called “anarchist jurisdictions.”

Previously, back in May 2020, during his first term, Trump had already indicated his intent to designate Antifa as a terrorist organization. There seems to be a consistent thread in his administration’s approach toward this group and others they see as a threat to national order.
