Meghan McCain’s Strong Support for US-Israel Relations
Meghan McCain recently shared her thoughts on the enduring strength of the US-Israel alliance, even in the face of rising anti-Semitism and political pressures from various sides. Speaking at an event in New York City, she received the “Israel Champion” award from the American Friends of Magen David Adom, an organization supporting Israeli emergency medical services.
During her speech, she expressed her belief that views on US-Israel relations are increasingly partisan, especially from the left. McCain emphasized the importance of pro-Israel voices within the Democratic Party, specifically mentioning Senator Chuck Schumer from New York. She didn’t shy away from calling out New York’s Democratic mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani, referencing his previous controversial statements related to anti-Semitic rhetoric.
“Pray for this city,” she urged the audience, adding, “He’s an animal,” which resonated with those present at the Cipriani Wall Street venue.
Support Across the Aisles
McCain acknowledged the challenge of combating negative narratives from both ends of the political spectrum, encouraging attendees to unite against what she described as destructive messages from both the radical left and elements within the alt-right. She expressed hope for a solid partnership between the US and Israel, emphasizing her appreciation for President Trump’s supportive stance on Israeli interests.
In her view, a majority of Americans recognize that the interests of Israel align closely with those of the United States, particularly concerning the fight against Islamic extremism.
She pointedly remarked how established figures like Charlie Kirk are targeted for standing up for their beliefs, highlighting a divide between those dedicated to saving lives and those fostering destruction.
McCain’s remarks also reflected a personal commitment to the Jewish state, stating, “I will not leave Israel, regardless of global pressures entwined with anti-Semitism.” She shared how her upbringing, influenced by her father, the late Senator John McCain, and his close relationship with Senator Joe Lieberman, deepened her understanding of Jewish values and community.
Concluding her speech, she cautioned that the struggles faced by Israel resonate within the US, warning, “If Israel loses this war, God forbid, the forces of darkness will advance towards us in America.” This strong declaration underscored her unwavering support for US-Israel relations and her belief in the shared struggle against broader threats.
McCain’s reflections at the event, highlighting Magen David Adom’s vital work in emergency services, illuminate the critical challenges both organizations face amidst rising global hostilities. As the ongoing conflict with Hamas intensifies, the sacrifices made by MDA personnel, including recent losses, serve as a stark reminder of the stakes at hand.
