Kuo Supports Cuomo
Woody Allen, the well-known but controversial figure in Hollywood, has voiced his support for Andrew Cuomo, the former governor of New York City, as he considers running for mayor.
“I’m definitely going to vote. I’m voting for Cuomo,” said the 89-year-old filmmaker during an appearance on the “Honesty with Veri Weiss” podcast.
He expressed belief that Cuomo would be more effective, stating, “I think Cuomo will do a better job. He will be much more efficient for New York.” Allen seemed to imply that while Mamdani had good intentions, he lacked experience. “I know New York well; Mamdani doesn’t,” he added.
Despite his cinematic achievements, Allen’s personal life has often overshadowed his career, especially following serious allegations that surfaced decades ago involving his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow. He has consistently denied these accusations, yet many actors have distanced themselves from him since then.
His relationship with Mia Farrow’s daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, starting in the early 1990s, has fueled further controversy, and he’s also been linked to notorious figures like Jeffrey Epstein.
Support from someone like Allen might not help Cuomo much, especially since Cuomo is trying to rebound after stepping down due to multiple allegations of sexual harassment, which he has also denied.
Cuomo is facing challenges to gain traction, particularly following a disappointing primary loss to Mamdani, who is just 33 years old.
Meanwhile, local political figures, including Governor Kathy Hochul and state legislator Karl Heaty, seem to be aligning with other leading candidates in a crowded field.
