Kyler Murray Addresses Controversial Social Media Post

Kyler Murray, the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, recently addressed some criticism surrounding a social media post. In a now-deleted Instagram image, he posted a picture with a pit bull while wearing a jersey of Michael Vick.

Vick, who was picked first overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft, had his career derailed when he was imprisoned in 2007 due to his involvement in a dog-fighting operation.

During a recent media session, Murray aimed to calm any worries that his post might have sparked regarding animal cruelty. He stated, “We never tolerate animal abuse or dog fights. Personally, I saw me wearing a Michael Vick jersey, which is something to consider. My dog, my trunk, my swoosh, they both get treated like kings.”

Murray acknowledged that he anticipated the reaction his post would generate, which led him to delete it. “I never tolerated that,” he added.

The now-removed photo featured a jersey resembling one that Vick wore during his college years at Virginia Tech, with Murray’s dog positioned near his feet alongside a designer bag.

After his prison sentence, Vick made a comeback to the NFL, playing for an additional seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Following his NFL retirement, Vick transitioned to broadcasting and coaching, recently becoming the head coach at Norfolk State.

Norfolk State will be competing against Sacred Heart on September 20th, carrying a record of 1-2.
