Utah manhunt concludes as Tyler Robinson, the suspected shooter of Charlie Kirk, turns himself in.

Incident at Utah Valley University

St. George, Utah – Just over thirty hours after Charlie Kirk was shot at Utah Valley University, the suspect’s parents accompanied him to the sheriff’s office.

Equipped with a rifle decorated with cryptic messages and memes, the intense manhunt for the suspect captured widespread attention as law enforcement worked to track him down in real time.

“Tyler understood it was only a matter of time with all the law enforcement pressure,” said Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby during a press conference after the suspect surrendered. “He knew he would eventually be caught.”

Let’s explore the timeline leading up to Kirk’s tragic shooting and the subsequent events surrounding it.

8:29 AM – Tyler Robinson, later identified as the suspect, pulled up to Orem in a gray Dodge Challenger. Initially dressed in vibrant shorts, a black hat, and colorful shoes, he changed into jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt before the incident.

He told Garrett Tenney from Fox News that he scouted the UVU campus earlier that morning.

September 10th Afternoon

11:50 AM – Surveillance cameras recorded Robinson walking across the UVU campus from the north side.

Authorities believed Robinson remained in the area to retrieve his abandoned rifle. Investigators later found a .30-06 bolt-action rifle wrapped in towels in a nearby wooded area, alongside some ammunition, one of which was fired, and marked with odd inscriptions.

With the suspect still at large, law enforcement released detailed images in hopes of gathering public tips, accelerating the manhunt.

In a troubling conversation, Robinson expressed fear of incarceration and indicated a desire to “finish it,” justifying his actions by claiming Kirk spread too much hatred.

Just before 9 PM – A family friend of Robinson reached out to authorities noting the suspect wished to turn himself in. Robinson was reportedly frightened of a police raid and had mentioned suicidal thoughts.

September 11: Late Evening
