DNC vice chair shares thoughts on Kamala Harris' book reflecting on 2024

Harris Prefers Buttigieg as a Running Mate

In the lead-up to the 2028 presidential election, former Biden Press Chief Yemisi Egbewole and ex-NRSC spokesman Tw Arrighi are set to explore potential running mates, including Kamala Harris’ earlier preferences for Democrats and Republicans.

In a much-anticipated memoir, Kamala Harris has revisited the 2024 election cycle and hinted at her desire for Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to open the door for future presidential runs. DNC vice-chair Chasti Conrad shared insights during an exclusive conversation with Fox News Digital.

Conrad noted, “Pete is one of our best communicators. I think there’s a possibility that Harris feels hopeful about him running for president again.”

This discussion of Harris’s potential future in politics has gained traction as excerpts from her memoir, titled “107 Days,” have been shared. Interestingly, she mentioned that, although she initially favored Buttigieg as her running mate, she eventually opted for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

According to reports from the Atlantic, Harris expressed in her upcoming book that Buttigieg would have made an ideal partner, stating, “I think he knows he is a national leader that we should consider.”

In a section of the book, Harris lamented the lack of support from Biden’s communications team during critical moments. She reflected on the challenges faced by women, particularly black women, in political spaces.

“A part of me just wanted to do it anyway, but I knew what was at stake,” she said, alluding to concerns about putting LGBTQ+ individuals at risk.

Conrad hinted at the complexities of the political landscape, suggesting that Harris’s choice of Walz after the defeat in the 2024 election has been a topic of debate. “There are many calculations involved in what makes a winning ticket,” she offered, mentioning her prior positive impression of Walz.

Though questions remain about the effectiveness of Harris’s approach, she has expressed the need to trust voters through authenticity. “The way to gain trust is based on the actions you take for the people,” she remarked.

Overall, the narrative presented in Harris’s memoir seems to offer a candid look at her experiences during a tumultuous election cycle, while also conveying feelings of being constrained in her role.

As news unfolds, reactions from Buttigieg and Harris’s representatives remain to be seen.
