Democrats Called Us Fascists, Now 'Attacks on Conservatives Are Accepted'

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) responded strongly to Barack Obama’s assertion that America is at a “point of refraction” after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Hunt proclaimed emphatically that “we’re past it,” blaming Democrats for fostering a culture of hostility that has led to political violence against conservatives.

In a statement given to Breitbart News, Hunt expressed his lack of confidence in Obama’s credibility. He stated, “President Obama has no basis to talk about the ‘inflection point’ in our politics,” criticizing Democrats and their media allies for targeting conservatives for over a decade.

During an event at the Jefferson Education Association in Pennsylvania, Obama suggested President Trump was partly responsible for Kirk’s murder, alleging that “extreme” staff and policies have fueled violent reactions. He implied that Trump might use this tragedy to suppress debates about national identity and direction, claiming that extremist views were not part of his administration.

Obama further emphasized that America is at a turning point, insisting that the country must constantly strive for democracy and the values that make it attractive globally.

Hunt countered that Obama’s remarks disregarded the ongoing and systematic targeting of conservatives. He pointed to a climate where conservative voices have faced repression related to issues like January 6th, election integrity, and the boldness to ask questions.

He noted that the threat posed by the government extends beyond mere words, referencing the FBI’s initiative to set up a hotline for reporting parents who speak out at school board meetings. Hunt declared, “Their actions have silenced Congressmen and conservative voices; President Trump has faced multiple assassination attempts.”

He emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “Charlie Kirk has been murdered. This is not rhetoric. These are living realities.” Hunt argued that Texas Republicans believe Democrats refuse to acknowledge the environment they’ve created, instead blaming conservatives whenever tragedy strikes. “Every time something bad happens, the left says, ‘It’s Trump’s fault,'” he remarked, insisting that Obama’s statements overlook this context.

Hunt asserted that America has already moved past the “inflection point,” claiming that the dangers are staring everyone in the face. He warned that younger generations are being taught to see conservatives not as opponents but as enemies. “We’ve reached a period where political violence against conservatives has become normalized through silence and, at times, encouragement from the left,” he said. Rather than asking if we’re at a crossroads, he noted that the focus should be on how to confront a reality where political opponents are labeled “fascists” or “threats to democracy.”

Hunt suggested that the path forward hinges on the resolve of conservatives willing to stand firm. “It unfolds with courage and unwavering defense of our freedoms,” he stated. He also claimed that the left is now facing scrutiny for its own hypocrisy, especially as conservative voice censorship becomes more apparent. “Now, for the first time, the reckless demonization leading to incidents like Kirk’s assassination is being condemned,” he added.

He made it clear that the critiques are not an example of “cancel culture.” Instead, he argued, they reflect the consequences of actions the left has long celebrated. “Now those consequences are turned against them, and it seems they don’t like facing their own reality,” he concluded.

Hunt’s comments come in the wake of Democrats and media figures celebrating the death of Kirk, who was shot last week during an event in Utah, leaving behind a wife and two young children.
