Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took to TikTok to pay tribute to his former teacher, TikTok Bernstein.
“She was an amazing teacher,” Shapiro reflected. “I’m really proud of her accomplishments in her second year. She showed me how to love learning, and I always felt excited coming to class because of her.”
Bernstein regularly appeared in videos on his Kind’s TikTok account, which is under the handle “Goobi Gubby.” Their videos together became quite popular, amassing millions of views and gaining over 650,000 followers along the way.
Sadly, Bernstein passed away on September 4 at the age of 82. On the following day, Shapiro shared a video featuring Bernstein, in which she left a touching message for her followers.
“I had a wonderful life,” she stated. “That’s something to hold on to.”
In a heartfelt closing, Shapiro included a snippet of Bernstein’s farewell to honor “Mrs. B.”
“Mrs. B was incredibly proud of my work in public service, and she supported me throughout my journey,” Shapiro reminisced. “I vividly remember my first campaign for state representative—she hosted my event at her home, beaming with pride.”
Shapiro previously served as Pennsylvania’s state representative from 2005 to 2011, chaired the Montgomery County Commissioners, and worked as Attorney General before becoming governor.
He is seen as a potential frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in the 2028 presidential race. There were discussions last year about him possibly being selected as a running mate by former Vice President Kamala Harris, who ultimately chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
“We’ll truly miss Mrs. B,” Shapiro concluded in his video. “Her family is grieving now, but I find comfort knowing that many lives were touched by her wonderful spirit.”
