Games, Sets, Bite!
This year, fans at the US Open have embraced the honey deuce cocktail like never before. A recent report showed that this refreshing drink, made with Grey Goose vodka and lemonade—topped off with honeydew melon balls—was consumed a staggering 738,459 times during the tournament in 2025.
But it wasn’t just the drinks that set records. The event itself pulled in an impressive 1.14 million visitors to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from August 24 to September 7. That marks a 9% increase over last year, making it the highest attendance ever recorded for the event.
In another highlight, the total prize pool reached a groundbreaking $90 million. That’s a significant leap from last year’s $75 million, showcasing the financial growth in professional tennis. The singles champions, Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka, each walked away with a record-setting $5 million, up 39% from the previous winner’s check of $3.6 million.
Winning teams from Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles also took home $1 million each. Even merchandise sales saw a boost, with items like a Ralph Lauren jacket priced at $268, Peter Miller polos for $130, and teddy bears for $42 experiencing a 27% year-over-year increase, according to the USTA.
One fan shared—a bit jokingly, perhaps—that they actually spent hours just trying to get a good photo with their honey deuce drink, a memory they wouldn’t trade for anything. It seems like this cocktail truly has become a symbol of the event.
“This year’s US Open really embodies the spirit of excellence and far surpasses expectations, creating entirely new records,” stated Allaster, reflecting on the event’s impact. “What we’ve accomplished over the past three weeks highlights tennis’s power and the untapped potential we still have in this sport.”
