Oklahoma State Fans React to Defeat Against Tulsa
Oklahoma State fans have expressed their frustration following the team’s home loss to Tulsa, marking a significant upset after 74 years.
During the game, Tulsa emerged victorious with a score of 19-12 at Boone Pickens Stadium. This prompted Cowboys fans to vocally call for coach Mike Gundy’s dismissal. The lead for Tulsa was 16-3 by halftime, and chants of “Fire Gundy” filled the air as the crowd grew increasingly restless; even as the fourth quarter approached, the noise persisted while Tulsa maintained its lead.
The defeat leaves Oklahoma State with a record of 1-2. They had previously secured a win against UT Martin but faced a crushing defeat against Oregon the week before.
Gundy, 58, acknowledged the passionate support from the fans despite the team’s struggles this season. “They were incredible tonight,” he commented after the game. “The stadium was packed, and their energy was fantastic.”
When asked about the fans who wanted him out, he responded, “These decisions are not mine. My focus is on moving forward and continuing to work hard.”
With over 21 years and 260 games under his belt, Gundy holds a record of 170-90. Yet, last season was one of the team’s most challenging during his tenure. As they prepare to face the 2-1 Baylor Bears at home next week, the hope is to turn their performance around. Meanwhile, the call from some of the fanbase for change grows louder.
