Kershaw’s Legacy and Dodgers’ Showdown with Giants

The day after Clayton Kershaw concluded his remarkable career with a 6-3 win in Chavez Valley, the Dodgers faced off against the Giants again in Los Angeles. It’s always a charged atmosphere during these rivalry games.

On the mound for the Dodgers is Tyler Glasnow, who has had a bit of a rollercoaster season. Los Angeles is eager to solidify its lead in the National League West, currently sitting four games ahead of the Padres, with only eight games left in the season.

Glasnow, after starting the season with a 4.50 ERA, had to deal with a painful shoulder issue which kept him on the injured list for about two months. Since he returned in early July, he seems to have found his stride once again, boasting a much-improved 2.66 ERA.

Though he can occasionally get a bit wild and give up home runs, overall, he’s been particularly effective lately. In fact, since his return, he has only allowed 35 hits over 64 innings, which is pretty impressive, I think.

His batting average against him is .160, which is the lowest in all of baseball among pitchers with at least 60 innings pitched since July 1. Quite a feat!

Interestingly, Glasnow faced the Giants in his last start in San Francisco, allowing just three hits over six innings. In his previous outing, he didn’t allow a single hit against the Rockies until leaving the game after seven innings.

On the other hand, the Giants have recently struggled offensively. Before Friday’s match, they hit just .153 in the past week, which ranks as one of the worst in the league during that timeframe.

So, as the rivalry continues, all eyes are on Glasnow and how he performs against a Giants team that seems to be hitting a rough patch.
