Podcasters and Controversies
The magazine’s co-founder, Gavin McInnes, once shared a friendship with Jimmy Kimmel. Recently, in light of Kimmel’s suspension from ABC, McInnes expressed a rather strong statement regarding his career.
“Back when I knew him, he was such a great guy, albeit a bit sneaky,” he shared on his podcast. “I mean, just think about it—Jimmy Kimmel, you might recall his earlier work on Man Show and even before that he was doing sports radio. He always contributed something interesting. It’s almost surprising, but he was a good cartoonist too. He did a few cartoons for us, and he certainly knows how to get a laugh. I appreciated that he could be a bit harsh; it was funny in a way.”
He also mentioned Molly McNearney, Kimmel’s wife, who originally worked her way up to become part of the writing team for Jimmy Kimmel Live!. They married in the mid-2000s, after Kimmel’s relationship with comedian Sara Silverman ended in 2003.
“You know, Molly was the only totally outrageous person on that staff—she ended up marrying her boss, Jimmy Kimmel. They tied the knot in 2013. I mean, there’s something to be said for mixing business with pleasure, right?” he joked.
McKinne compared McNearney’s influence on Kimmel to that of Beth Ostrosky Stern on her husband, Howard Stern. He remarked, “She’s the liberal who changed him… Just like there’s a ‘before’ and ‘after’ for Howard with Beth, there’s a clear shift for Jimmy with Molly. Friends of both couples socialize, discussing their causes, and it seems like the guys adjust their views to keep the peace at home.”
He went on to criticize the hypocrisy in cancel culture, suggesting that the left has gone too far and should experience the same backlash they’ve inflicted. “The gloves are off now. We’ve got some hypocrites here. You started this war,” he declared. “It’s time to face the consequences.”
As part of his argument, he played a notable clip featuring Andrew Breitbart from the documentary I Hate Breitbart, where Breitbart coolly addresses an opponent: “War.”
Kimmel is currently facing indefinite suspension after making controversial comments about an incident involving Charlie Kirk. Ratings for his show have dropped significantly, leading various networks to halt its airing. It seems viewers are not reacting well to the recent events.
