The third week of the 2025 NFL season is upon us, with action set to continue on Sunday. The Los Angeles Rams are visiting the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch from last year’s NFC division playoffs.
Last Sunday, the Eagles managed to defeat the Chiefs in a tight Super Bowl Lix rematch, leaving Arrowhead Stadium with a 20-17 win. One standout, wide receiver AJ Brown, hasn’t made much of an impact lately, which is something to consider moving forward.
Let’s take a closer look at what to expect from Brown in fantasy football this week.
Fantasy Football Analysis: Eagles WR AJ Brown
Once a top 10 wide receiver, Brown’s performance has taken a noticeable dip in these first two weeks of the season. He’s managed just six receptions for 35 yards, placing him at WR84 in PPR leagues and WR101 in Standard leagues. His struggles seem surprising, especially since he’s been on the field for about 87% of the offensive snaps in both games. So, what’s going on?
It seems the Eagles are favoring a running strategy under new offensive coordinator Kevin Peturo. This shift is evident with their low passing rate, sitting at around 40%, and they’ve totaled just 253 passing yards in two games. Both Brown and Devonta Smith have struggled to make a significant impact this season, and they’ve voiced their concerns about the passing game—a stark contrast to last year’s Super Bowl run. They’ll be looking to possibly break this trend in their home game against the Rams.
Should you start or sit him in PPR leagues this week?
I’d suggest starting him. Those managing Brown should certainly keep an eye on this week’s matchup, as there are opportunities to exploit. As noted by Johnny McGonigal from Pennlive, the Rams’ cornerbacks, Coby Durant and Emmanuel Forbes, might be vulnerable due to Akelo Witherspoon’s injury. Brown previously had an outstanding performance against Forbes in 2023, nabbing three touchdowns and amassing 192 yards across eight catches in their matchups.
If there’s a chance for the All-Pro to shake off his slow start, this is it—week three looks promising.
