On Sunday evening, the Lake Elsinore community gathered to honor Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a teenager who went missing from her home in 2024.
Residents assembled around 7 PM local time to remember her, as reported by local news.
A memorial has already been set up on the streets where she lived, adorned with flowers and heartfelt messages from friends and family.
“Justice for Celeste Rivas,” read one poignant banner at the site.
Celeste’s body was discovered on September 8th in the trunk of a Tesla found in a Hollywood Hills reservoir, linked to the 20-year-old singer D4VD, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
Reports indicate that Celeste had a tattoo on her right index finger that said “shhh…”, a design shared by other celebrities, including Rihanna and Lindsay Lohan.
When she was found, she was wearing a tube top, black leggings, and a yellow bracelet, along with metal stud earrings.
Her remains were described as severely dismembered and poorly preserved, leading authorities to investigate after the car emitted a “foul smell.”
A poster detailing her disappearance noted that she was just 13 when she went missing.
She was located shortly after turning 15, and police speculated she died around the age of 14 based on the condition of her body, as further reported by a local news source.
Upon hearing the tragic news, Celeste’s mother had a strong intuition that her daughter had been found, as shared in an interview.
Organizers Esmeralda Lozano and Gisel Vera announced on a fundraising platform, “Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was cherished as a daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.”
They added that the family is grieving deeply and is seeking assistance for funeral expenses, expressing gratitude for any contributions.
D4VD was in the midst of a world tour but has since canceled remaining performances amid this investigation.
He had a sold-out event planned at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, but that appearance has also been removed and canceled.
The artist was scheduled to travel to Europe in early October, but several shows, including one in Norway, have been canceled according to ticket vendor listings.
A representative for Burke stated that he is cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
