Giants Fans Express Frustration
Giants fans are becoming increasingly frustrated.
During the home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, the rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart drew attention as Russell Wilson struggled with his performance. Wilson had thrown for 450 yards just a week earlier, yet in this game, fans began chanting for Dart as they watched Wilson attempt a challenging pass with only 49 seconds left in the first half.
In a disappointing 22-9 loss on “Sunday Night Football,” Dart participated in just three plays and has yet to complete a pass in the NFL.
After the game, Wilson acknowledged the fans’ calls for Dart, stating that it didn’t affect him.
“There are ups and downs,” Wilson remarked. “You have to be tough. It’s important to know yourself and your skills.”
Giants coach Brian Daboll showed understanding towards the fans’ frustrations.
“Jackson is on track,” Daboll said when asked about Dart’s appeal. “We’ll keep developing him. I believe in his progress… Look, I get it. I’m not happy with how things are going either.”
The boos only intensified as the Giants attempted to inch toward a touchdown in the closing minutes.
Wilson faced a setback when he was penalized 10 yards for intentional grounding on what was supposed to be a goal from the 4-yard line, leaving the game with just over three minutes remaining.
Daboll’s decision to execute a quarterback draw on second down drew more ire from the audience.
Wilson struggled even more, fumbling the ball in a series of uninspired plays.
Post-game, Dart claimed he was largely unaffected by the crowd’s reactions, including the brief cheers he received when he stepped onto the field.
Looking ahead, the Giants have a challenging schedule, which complicates predictions about when Dart might see significant playing time.
Next week, they’ll host a strong 3-0 Chargers team, a matchup that could be tough after facing off against the Saints.
After that, they’ll tackle the Eagles on “Thursday Night Football” and then head to Denver for another difficult game before revisiting the Eagles in Philadelphia.
Some speculated that Dart may get a starting opportunity against the Saints, but given the tough upcoming schedule, it might be wiser to wait until after the game against the Packers on November 16, when things might become less daunting.
