Auburn Tigers Basketball Coach Bruce Pearl to Retire

Reports indicate that Auburn Tigers men’s basketball head coach Bruce Pearl is planning to retire before the 2025-26 season. This news emerged on Monday from multiple sources.

Stephen Pearl, Bruce’s son, is expected to step into the head coaching role, currently serving as the associate head coach.

Interestingly, Pearl’s upcoming retirement has led to speculation about his potential candidacy to replace Tommy Tuberville in the US Senate, especially given Tuberville’s run for Alabama Governor.

Back in July, during an interview on the “Scott Jennings Show,” Pearl hinted at his desire to make a difference, questioning if he could do so as a senator rather than just as a basketball coach. “I don’t know that I have to be a senator in order to make an impact,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to teaching and shaping young lives.

In recent times, Pearl has been vocal about his support for Israel amid rising anti-Semitism in the U.S., particularly after the terrorist attacks on October 7. He previously supported President Trump’s stance on Middle Eastern conflicts.

Additionally, he has been appointed president of the American Israeli Education Association.

As the coach of the Tigers, Bruce Pearl has led the team to two Final Four appearances and has a record of 246 wins to 125 losses. His impact on Auburn basketball has been significant, and fans will surely remember his contributions to the program.
