Shooting Incident at Nashua Country Club
A disturbing shooting occurred at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, during a wedding on Saturday evening, leaving one man dead and two others injured. The alleged shooter, 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau, reportedly caused chaos as witnesses heard one man, Tom Bartelson, shout phrases like “Children are safe” and “Free Palestine.”
In a tragic turn of events, 59-year-old Robert Stephen Decesare lost his life while trying to shield his family. According to his mother, Evie O’Rourke, he acted heroically, sacrificing himself to protect his wife and daughter. “He turned around and stood up and took a bullet for his family, and I’m very proud of him,” she said in an interview.
O’Rourke continued, “He was a great man. A hardworking husband and a wonderful son. We looked up to him, and now we can’t.” Decesare’s wife shared that her husband, who was deeply involved in his community and enjoyed activities like golf and poker, is loved by those around him. She reflected on how their lives have irreversibly changed due to this tragic moment but emphasized that he acted out of love and concern for her and their daughter. “In our hearts, he is a hero,” she expressed solemnly.
New Hampshire Attorney General John applauded the courage shown by those in the restaurant who intervened. Wedding DJ Michael Homewood mentioned that one unidentified patron played a significant role in preventing more casualties by striking the shooter on the head with a chair, an action that likely saved many lives.
