Cowboys’ Lamb Expected to Miss Weeks Due to Injury
Reports indicate that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, is likely to be sidelined for three to four weeks following a high ankle sprain. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared that although Lamb will not be placed on injured reserve, his status will be assessed weekly after he misses at least the next two games.
Lamb sustained the injury during the first drive of the team’s recent 31-14 defeat against the Chicago Bears. He headed towards the medical tent but briefly returned for one play before being ruled out for the rest of the game. Despite the setback, he had impressive stats in the earlier part of the season, catching 16 out of 24 passes for 222 yards in just the first two weeks.
The timeline for his recovery remains uncertain, as high ankle sprains require careful treatment. If he recovers quickly and misses only two games, there’s a chance he could return for the sixth week against the Carolina Panthers on October 12. However, if he ends up missing the full four weeks, as some reports suggest, he would be back in time for the eighth week’s matchup against the Denver Broncos on October 26.
His absence is particularly significant for fantasy football, as Lamb ranks among the top three wide receivers based on average draft position. This injury could heavily impact fantasy teams as the season progresses. Despite being out in the recent game against the Bears, Lamb remains in the top 15 for receptions and receiving yards, making his absence a blow for both the Cowboys and fantasy managers alike.
In the wake of Lamb’s injury, George Pickens is expected to step up as the leading wide receiver for the Cowboys. Pickens has been productive, posting 68 yards and a touchdown in consecutive games. Heading into week 4, he’s already positioning himself as a top 20 fantasy option, making him a candidate for starting lineups even before the injury news hit.
The tight end position could also see more action, particularly Jake Ferguson, who was targeted 14 times by Dak Prescott in the game against the Bears. Additionally, Kavontae Turpin, who has a very low ownership rate in fantasy leagues, might get more opportunities as well.
For those managing Lamb, it would be wise to consider adding Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston, who is showing potential after a breakout season so far. This adjustment could provide a solid option as managers look for alternatives in the wake of Lamb’s injury.
