CeeDee Lamb Expected to Miss Weeks with Injury
The Dallas Cowboys may be without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for several weeks following a high ankle sprain he suffered during Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears. Reports suggest he could be sidelined for about 3-4 weeks, according to ESPN.
Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ executive vice president and Jerry Jones’ son, mentioned that the team needs to evaluate Lamb’s condition further but admitted that the outlook seems concerning.
“We need to take it day by day and see how he’s moving,” Jones said. “He has a high ankle sprain, and they can vary in severity. He’s eager to get back for the Green Bay game, but it’s crucial to understand the extent of the injury.”
This weekend’s matchup against the Packers is particularly significant, primarily due to the high-profile trade involving Micah Parsons prior to the 2025 season.
Lamb expressed optimism about his recovery, stating he “absolutely” believes he could return to the field. The injury occurred in the first quarter when Bears linebacker Noah Sewell fell into Lamb’s legs, leading to an awkward twist of his ankle. He briefly returned to run a route but ultimately left the game with a walking boot, and an MRI confirmed the sprain the following day.
Losing Lamb, even temporarily, is a considerable setback for the Cowboys. He started the season strong, demonstrating consistent performance with 100-yard games before his injury.
Historically, Lamb has dealt with injuries, having missed two games in his career—once for a concussion in 2021 and another time due to a shoulder problem in 2024.
“It’s a different scenario without him,” Jones noted, adding that having Lamb on the field is a significant advantage. He highlighted that George Pickens could step up and perform in Lamb’s absence.
In addition to Pickens, the team is looking to other receivers like Jake Ferguson, Kavontae Turpin, and Jalen Tolbert to fill the gap.
