Cruise Passengers Plight on Water Slide Goes Viral

Passengers aboard a cruise ship found themselves in a precarious situation after getting stuck inside a water slide suspended more than 100 feet above the ocean. A video shared on TikTok portrays the tense moments as they tried to maneuver their way to safety.

In the footage, a woman appears trapped inside a transparent tube, while other passengers watch in horror. They can be seen attempting to stretch out their bodies and lower themselves down the slide. Amid growing panic, one bystander exclaims, “Oh, she’s literally stuck!”

The TikTok user posting the video didn’t mention which cruise line the incident involved, though the ship resembles the “Bliss” from Norwegian Cruise Line. Reports indicate that it was operating a week-long Alaska cruise off the coast of Victoria, British Columbia, on September 19.

This ship features a double-loop water slide named the “Ocean Loop.” Passengers stand on a trapdoor that opens to send them soaring through a loop suspended 159 feet above water, ultimately plunging into a pool onboard. Requirements for the ride include being at least 40 inches tall and weighing between 120 and 300 pounds.

Since its release, the TikTok video has amassed over 7 million views, sparking reactions from users expressing concern. One commenter mentioned, “Someone else is having a panic attack after seeing this?” while another said, “If I’m stuck above the water, I’m going to be mentally ill.” Another user remarked, “TikTok definitely taught me not to get into the cruise water slide,” reflecting the anxiety many felt watching the ordeal.

It remains unclear whether the trapped woman was eventually able to escape the tube. Some users resonate with her experience, suggesting that the slide is equipped with an emergency hatch. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time such an incident has happened. In the past, there have been reports of passengers becoming trapped on similar slides on Norwegian cruise ships.

In a related incident, not long ago, a panel broke on Royal Caribbean’s “Icon of the Seas,” leading to water rushing from the slide. The panic was palpable, and one guest cried out for the slide to be stopped. The cruise line later confirmed that a male passenger had sustained an injury and received medical attention.
