Trump Calls for NATO Action Against Russian Aircraft

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump urged NATO nations to shoot down any Russian jets that trespass into their airspace. This remark came during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as both attended the UN General Assembly in New York City.

A reporter directly asked Trump, “Do you think NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter airspace?” To which Trump confidently replied, “Yes, that’s right.”

Earlier in the day, Trump had also criticized the United Nations for failing to promote peace, suggesting that it often adds to existing conflicts rather than alleviating them. He expressed skepticism about the UN’s purpose, highlighting that the organization doesn’t seem to address the very issues it was created to resolve.

He stated, “Not only does it not solve the problems the United Nations should handle, but they’re also creating new ones too often.” He described the situation as “uncontrolled” and lamented the state of some countries involved.

During his comments, Trump further accused the UN of undermining Western nations, claiming it “funds attacks” against them and facilitates illegal immigration to the United States. He argued that the organization provides resources to undocumented individuals, including food, shelter, and transportation.

Trump asserted, “The UN is supposed to stop the aggression, not contribute to it.” He emphasized the need for more robust actions against illegal immigration, suggesting that if stricter measures are taken, the influx could be halted.

He concluded by stating that many nations have been too politically correct in addressing these challenges, allowing the issues to persist without adequate solutions.

This is an evolving story. Further updates are expected.
