Two Unauthorized Immigrants Rearrested in Texas After Reportedly Choking Border Patrol Agent to Make Their Escape

Recapture of Illegal Aliens Following Assault on Border Patrol Agent

Law enforcement swiftly apprehended two illegal aliens who escaped from Border Patrol custody after allegedly attacking a female agent. The incident took place while the pair were being taken to detention facilities. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers initially detained the two individuals during a multi-agency operation in the Greater Houston area.

The brief escape involved two Mexican nationals, 29-year-old Juan Carmen Padron Mendes and 23-year-old Juan Carlo Padron Baron, who were being transported to the Montgomery Processing Center on Monday. Reports indicate that one of the illegal aliens assaulted a female Border Patrol agent, leading to the attack as they were moved to the facility.

The two men were first arrested during an ICE-led operation aimed at identifying violent foreign criminals and serious immigration violators near Spring, Texas. This operation aligns with the previous administration’s strategy focusing on enhancing public safety by targeting high-risk illegal aliens.

After the escape, law enforcement officials promptly searched for the fugitives last seen on Interstate 45 near North Loop 336. Within hours, they were located and taken into custody just outside the city limits on Monday evening.

Gabriel Martinez, the deputy director of ICE enforcement and removal operations, expressed concern about the attacks on Border Patrol agents. He stated, “It’s distressing to see legitimate law enforcement officers hurt as a result of the ongoing vilification of their work by some political leaders and members of the media.”

Martinez further noted, “When dedicated personnel in ICE, CBP, or Border Patrol are termed as Nazis or bounty hunters, it puts a target on their backs, making attacks like this more likely to occur.”

According to ICE, Juan Carlo Padron-Barron has illegally entered the U.S. at least three times and has been deported twice. In contrast, Juan Carmen Padron-Mendez has no prior records of engagement with ICE or Border Patrol.

The specifics of the injuries sustained by the unnamed female Border Patrol agent have not been disclosed by ICE.

Requests for more information regarding potential criminal charges related to the escape and the assault against federal agents by Padron Baron and Padron Mendes have not received responses by the time of reporting.
