Trump’s UN Visit Faces Elevator and Teleprompter Issues
Caroline Leavitt, the White House press chief, has called for the firing and investigation of the individual responsible for a malfunctioning escalator at the United Nations during President Donald Trump’s visit on Tuesday. This incident occurred just before Trump was set to address the General Assembly in New York, forcing him and First Lady Melania to walk along the stalled escalator.
Trump, in his speech, drew laughter from the audience, particularly when commenting on the unexpected nature of the situation. “I’m really happy to be here with you,” he said, adding, “but anyone who operates this teleprompter has a big problem,” after facing a brief interruption when the device froze.
After the teleprompter resumed, Trump took the opportunity to criticize the UN. “I didn’t even get a call from them to resolve these ongoing conflicts. All I got was an escalator that stopped halfway,” he remarked, highlighting his frustration with the organization.
In a somewhat humorous conclusion, Trump noted, “If the First Lady had been in worse condition, she could have fallen. Thankfully, we both managed just fine.” He quipped about his frustrating experience at the UN, saying he received “bad escalators and bad teleprompters.”
