Apple Delays ‘The Savant’ After Charlie Kirk's Murder

Apple TV+ Postpones “The Savant” After Controversial Incident

Apple TV+ has decided to delay the release of “The Savant,” a series starring Jessica Chastain, following the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

While the storyline of “Savant” doesn’t directly relate to Kirk’s death, it does tackle themes of politically motivated attacks on individuals. Hollywood Reporter notes that, as of now, it’s unclear when the streaming service will reschedule the series, which was originally set to debut this Friday.

In a tweet, Chastain expressed her strong feelings about the decision to postpone. She noted her appreciation for working with Apple but mentioned her disagreement with the choice to hold back the series. “I wasn’t in line with my decision to suspend the release of ‘Savant,'” she stated.

Chastain, who serves as an executive producer and stars in the series as a secret agent combating hate groups, believes the show’s themes are especially relevant right now. “Over the past five years, I’ve never shied away from difficult topics. I hope this show isn’t as pertinent as it seems, but unfortunately, it is,” she commented on social media.

An Apple TV+ representative addressed the matter, saying, “After careful consideration, we decided to postpone ‘Savant.’ We thank everyone for their understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a later date.”

Chastain also emphasized the importance of recognizing the heroes working tirelessly to prevent violence, stating that highlighting their bravery is more urgent than ever. The show was set to consist of eight episodes.
