Recent Events at the United Nations Spark Controversy

“A real dishonor occurred at the United Nations yesterday,” Donald Trump stated, mentioning “three very ominous events.” He noted issues with the escalator, a malfunctioning teleprompter, and sound problems during his speech.
Trump called for an investigation, adding that “Secret Service is involved.”
In a quite emphatic response, Trump elaborated on his experience: “Not just one or two, but three problematic events. First, the escalators—a key access point—were completely out of commission. It could have been dangerous. Melania and I had to hold on tightly to avoid falling. It’s baffling that reports hinted workers might have joked about shutting them down. Those responsible should face consequences! Then, my teleprompter failed while I was speaking to a global audience. It was a really cold, dark stone up there. I found myself wondering about the place. I managed, but it felt strange to be giving a speech without it. Fortunately, the feedback was positive. That’s something. Then, after I wrapped up, I learned that no one could hear me in the auditorium unless they had an interpreter’s device. When I asked Melania what she thought, she admitted she had trouble making out my words. It cannot be a coincidence—this was a full-on obstruction at the UN. I’ve contacted the Executive Director, and I urge an immediate investigation. Security footage should be preserved. The Secret Service is looking into this, thank you for your attention!”
White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt shared a portion of a Sunday Times article, which claimed that “UN staff had turned off the escalators due to budget issues and had to take the stairs to welcome Trump.”
She remarked that if anyone at the UN purposefully stopped the escalator while the president and first lady were arriving, it was grounds for immediate dismissal and further investigation.
The United Nations has denied any intentional wrongdoing, suggesting that a videographer might have inadvertently triggered safety features, leading to the escalator’s shutdown.
According to Breitbart, the UN claims that the sudden halt of the escalator coincided with Trump’s arrival at the General Assembly in New York City. Meanwhile, Leavitt maintained that the president was adversely affected by the circumstances and emphasized that the Secret Service is investigating the incident.
The UN insists that the stoppage was not planned. UN spokesperson Stephen Dujaric suggested that US delegation videographers seemingly caused the escalator’s safety mechanisms to activate. Investigations indicate that the escalator stopped due to a built-in safety feature being triggered.
