Christopher Yuan Recovers After Surgery
Theologian and author Christopher Yuan is reportedly recovering well following emergency surgery due to paralysis from a fall at home earlier this week.
An update posted on his Instagram account states, “Christopher has had surgery and is recovering well. The surgeon confirmed that the procedure was successful, and he has begun to regain some feeling in his hands, arms, toes, and feet.”
It was also noted that he will undergo rehabilitation for two to four weeks, likely continuing from home for an additional four to six months.
The post ended with gratitude for the support and prayers received, especially during the moment when he was said to “regain full mobility and movement of his feet.” Reports indicate that Yuan hopes this situation raises awareness about faith in Jesus and the Gospel.
Yuan, who has a significant past as a gay man and drug dealer, has shared his journey of conversion to Christianity in his 2011 memoir, *From a Distant Land: Gay Son’s Journey to God, the Quest for the Hope of a Broken Mother*.
Before the surgery, he tweeted on Monday about his fall at home, expressing that he couldn’t feel or move his legs and was subsequently taken to the hospital.
He later shared about the circumstances of his accident, describing a violent shake that resulted in a heavy machine falling on him.
On Tuesday morning, his mother Angela tweeted that her son would be undergoing emergency surgery that day, requesting prayers that the paralysis would not be permanent.
“Pray for Christopher. He was hospitalized after suffering serious injuries which left him paralyzed around his neck,” she wrote. She also mentioned that they were awaiting an MRI and praying for a successful surgery.
