Mama Mia!
Greta Tanberg and other activists reported feeling tortured by relentless ABBA songs broadcasted from hacked radios as their fleet set off from Greece to deliver aid to Gaza.
The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) condemned these actions as “psychological” assaults, stating that communication became “clogged” during their sail on Thursday.
In addition, the group claimed to have encountered “at least 13 explosions” affecting the ten vessels that departed from Spain on September 1.
Activist Yasemin Acar shared footage showing how hackers took over the ship’s radio during one of these attacks, incessantly playing ABBA tunes.
“We are witnessing these psychological manipulations firsthand, but we remain undeterred,” the GSF stated.
Tanberg criticized the drone activity as “terrifying tactics” intended to disrupt Israel’s naval blockade and intimidate activists trying to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza via civilian boats from 44 countries.
“The most significant aspect isn’t that we were attacked by drones,” Sanberg expressed. “Drones are a daily reality for Palestinians.”
Acar compared the scene to a “battlefield,” noting the difficulty in even contacting the Coast Guard due to the disruption.
“It was horrifying to see this unfold in international waters near Greece,” she told NBC News. “After an explosion, there was silence… and no one came to help.”
The Greek Coast Guard confirmed they hadn’t received any distress calls from the fleet.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Clossett condemned the attack on the GSF, with GSF and Spanish Navy ships dispatched for support.
The Italian Foreign Ministry reported that its computer systems faced a “post bombing” campaign during the fleet’s attack, aimed at overwhelming servers with false emails.
They also mentioned that 58 individuals, including a number of lawmakers, were part of the fleet.
The GSF has claimed for weeks that their mission to deliver aid to Gaza has been targeted, pointing to two separate attacks off the coast of Tunisia. Tunisian officials at the time had stated that these claims were unfounded.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry alleged that the fleet was organized by Hamas, a claim they have strongly denied.
