Navarro Calls for Accountability After Comey’s Indictment
Peter Navarro, who served as a senior trade and manufacturing advisor to President Trump, addressed the founders of the Breitbart Fight Club, expressing his intent to repeatedly hold individuals accountable, especially following the indictment of former FBI director James Comey.
Navarro has co-authored a book titled I Went to Prison So You Don’t Need to: A Story of Love and Law on the Land of Trump along with his fiancée, Bonnie Brenner. The recent roundtable event was attended by Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow and Washington Bureau’s Matthew Boyle.
Navarro described Comey as essentially the “mastermind or useful idiot” behind what he referred to as Steel Dejar, with former FBI agent Walter Giardina characterizing him as “the tip of a spear.” He stated, “We assassinated one of America’s great men,” adding that while there are typically five stages of grief, he believes the sixth stage is accountability. “We have to be accountable,” he insisted. “This is about coming together for a reason. If we don’t hold these individuals accountable, they’ll repeat their actions.”
He elaborated on how conservatives and right-wing populists are increasingly facing legal and political violence. Navarro warned, “They’re going to put us in prison. Steve Bannon and I went to prison. They’re going to shoot us. They have targeted President Trump, Charlie Kirk, John Eastman, Jeff Clark, and others. They aim to bankrupt Rudy Giuliani and Mike Lindell. Everyone I worked with in the White House has become a target since I left.”
In 2024, Navarro became the first former White House staff member sentenced to prison for congressional charges of contempt, serving four months. He reflected on the nature of his book, emphasizing that a fundamentally flawed legal system has held names accountable. He stressed, “We know who these people are, and we cannot allow them to evade responsibility. We’re not about letting them off the hook; we’re about ensuring they’re held accountable.”
