Navarro on Comey and Accountability

In a recent interview, senior White House adviser Peter Navarro shared his thoughts on former FBI director James Comey, who was charged by the federal government. Navarro referred to Comey as either the “mastermind or useful idiot” of what he describes as the Russian conspiracy narrative.

Navarro, author of I went to prison so you don’t need to: A story of love and law on the land of Trump, discussed the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane Probe and criticized the origins of the allegations against President Trump, particularly pointing to a controversial dossier funded by the Clinton campaign. He recounted how Giardina, the former FBI agent who arrested him, had connections to his fiancée Bonnie Brenner at Reagan National Airport in June 2022.

“The FBI whistleblower has shown that the Steele documents were questionable, especially since they were aware that the Clinton campaign funded them to portray Trump negatively,” Navarro said. He expressed his view that Comey played a key role in perpetuating this narrative. “It’s a matter of accountability. We can’t let these actions go unexplained, or they will continue to happen.”

Navarro emphasized that conservatives have been unfairly targeted politically and legally, citing several notable individuals, including Steve Bannon and Donald Trump. “After we left the White House, it felt like everyone I knew was being targeted. They’ve even gone after Rudy Giuliani and Mike Lindell,” he added.

Comey faces a charge of obstruction of justice for making false statements, and Navarro is calling for further investigation into Giardina as part of his argument for accountability. He compared the situation to a series of federal efforts aimed at undermining Trump and noted the various probes and controversies that seemed to intertwine. “It’s essential that we investigate not only Comey but also those involved in implementing this so-called Lawfare,” he stated.

Navarro, who was released from prison on July 17, 2024, spoke about the importance of sharing his story to raise awareness. “If they can come after me, then they can certainly come after anyone else,” he warned.
