Trump Criticizes Judge in Comey’s Case
On Friday, President Trump expressed his outrage over James Comey, who has recently been charged, and criticized the “crippled” judge assigned to his case, appointed by President Biden.
James Comey, 64, was charged by the Federal University Ju trial after allegedly misleading Congress about the investigation into Russiagate nearly a decade ago. His case will be overseen by District Judge Michael Nachmanov, appointed by Biden.
In an early post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “Whether you like corrupt James Comey or not, I can’t imagine many people do. He lied! It’s not a complicated lie; it’s a simple yet significant one.”
Trump continued to berate Comey, asserting, “There’s no way he can weasel out of this. He’s always been a dirty cop, but now he’s got a judge aligned with Biden.” He expressed his disapproval of Comey’s previous actions, especially regarding his testimony to Congress on September 30, 2020, during the Trump-Russia investigation.
The ex-president accused Comey of leaving out key details in his testimony and described him as a “destroyer of lives.” He also stated, “He knew exactly what he was doing. It was a major lie, and he must face significant consequences!”
The charges stem from Comey’s interactions with Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) when he was questioned about leaks related to the probe.
Comey, who held the position of FBI director from 2013 until Trump dismissed him in 2017, was anticipated to surrender early Friday. Following the charges, Comey commented that the Justice Department had “broken hearts,” yet maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal.
