Oklahoma Woman Suffers Severe Injuries After Dog Attack
An Oklahoma woman tragically lost all four of her limbs following a brutal dog attack on September 9.
Janelle Scott was on her way to visit a friend when a Pitbull attacked her. Her mother, Cheryl Scott, shared details about the incident, mentioning that two dogs were in the care of a friend of their owner, who is currently in prison. Furthermore, Janelle’s boyfriend also faced an attack from one of the dogs and ultimately killed it in self-defense.
Cheryl recounted the harrowing details of the attack to Fox 23, saying, “To get to her friend’s place, you have to navigate through some wooded areas. I think her friend lives in a camper. When the dog came out and attacked, she recognized it.” It sounds incredibly frightening.
After the attack, Janelle realized that her injuries were severe. Cheryl explained, “After seeing what happened to her arm, she knew she would lose her right arm. She looked down and could see the bones barely hanging on by tendons.” Such a devastating realization.
Initially, Janelle underwent surgery to amputate her arms and legs, with reports indicating that she might need further surgeries in the future. As of now, she has lost all four limbs and was scheduled for more procedures this week.
According to local police, one of the dogs was definitely involved in the attack and was killed by Janelle’s boyfriend, while the second dog was present but not considered a threat. That dog is still alive.
Officers responded to the scene at 10:57 PM and reported hearing screams from nearby woods. Upon their arrival, they found Janelle with serious injuries and immediately began emergency care, calling for ambulances to the area.
In light of the circumstances, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist with Janelle’s medical expenses, raising over $20,000 at last check.
