Sinclair lifts ban on Jimmy Kimmel

Sinclair to Resume ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Sinclair announced it will bring back the opening segment of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” with the show set to return this Friday.

The company emphasized that the objective is to make programming both accurate and appealing to the largest audience possible. They aim to serve community interests while honoring their duty as local broadcasters and fulfilling their role in airing national network content.

Recently, Sinclair received constructive feedback from various community leaders representing a wide array of viewers and advertisers. Additionally, they noted some unsettling incidents of violence, including one at an ABC affiliate in Sacramento. As a result, Sinclair engaged in ongoing discussions with ABC, suggesting ways to improve accountability, encourage viewer feedback, and foster community dialogue, such as introducing independent ombudsmen across the network.

Sinclair further stated that this proposal arose as a collaborative effort between ABC affiliates and the ABC network.

While ABC and Disney have yet to implement these suggestions, Sinclair acknowledges their rights to make such decisions based on their affiliate agreements. They believe that adopting these measures could improve trust and accountability.

According to Sinclair, the choice to preempt this program was made without government influence. They argued that free speech gives broadcasters the right to decide on content at their local stations. The company pointed out the contradiction in urging broadcasters to air certain content while also advocating for free speech. Sinclair, which is deeply rooted in local station values, is dedicated to providing programming that resonates with community priorities, builds trust, and stimulates constructive dialogue. They expressed eagerness to work alongside ABC in delivering meaningful content to the community.

This story is still developing.
