Oregon murder suspect Ty Sage apprehended again after being wrongly released from prison

Murder Suspect Wrongly Released from Prison in Oregon

Officials in Oregon have revealed details about a murder suspect who was erroneously released from prison earlier this week. Ty Anthony Sage, 26, was let go from the Multnomah County Jail in Portland after posting bail on Monday, as stated by the Sheriff’s Office.

“Ty Sage should not have been able to post bail,” noted Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell in a press release.

Sage is facing charges of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery related to the death of 15-year-old Logan Ivy in 2021. Both Sage and 26-year-old Kevin Rivas Ramirez had been arrested in May.

“The family of Logan Ivy deserves more than this,” Sheriff O’Donnell commented. “As the Multnomah County sheriff, I am determined to prevent such incidents from happening again and to ensure the Ivy family receives justice.”

On Thursday, authorities revealed that Sage was rearrested at a gas station off Highway 101 in Florence, Oregon, around 1 PM. The arrest was made with the assistance of a former U.S. escape task force.

Interestingly, Sage had appeared at a court hearing the previous Wednesday, and a judge denied his bail request the following day. However, a release form dated September 17 indicated a $5,000 bail was approved, allowing him to disregard the judge’s order.

Currently, authorities are looking into how this significant paperwork error occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest there was a misunderstanding within the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) about the court’s initial order.

In light of this incident, Sheriff O’Donnell has committed to refining their administrative processes, stating that MCSO personnel “acted in good faith and sought clarifications with the court.”

Ramsey, the victim’s mother, has expressed her frustration over the situation, admitting it feels absurdly relieving that her son’s alleged murderer has been found again. “It seems like they’ve failed me,” she stated. “Not just me, but everyone else in the community as well. This is a child murderer we’re dealing with.”

She is contemplating legal action against the county but hasn’t reached a decision yet. “We have to relive everything,” she shared. “I’ll carry this for the rest of my life. It’s like reopening a wound that hasn’t healed. I think it’s really taking a toll on me.”
