Terrell Williams Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer
New England Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams is facing a prostate cancer diagnosis, as revealed by head coach Mike Vrabel on Friday.
The 51-year-old Williams stepped away from the team after experiencing unexpected health problems following the Patriots’ loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in their first game of the season. Vrabel noted, “Unfortunately, Terrell Williams is dealing with prostate cancer and is now exploring treatment options with specialists to determine the best course of action.” It’s a tough situation, given how much Williams is valued both personally and professionally within the team.
Earlier in the season, Williams had already missed the rookie minicamp due to unrelated health concerns and had issues with dehydration during training camp practices in July.
In Williams’ absence, linebacker coach Zak Kur will take on the role of defensive play caller. Vrabel expressed confidence in Kur’s ability, stating that the communication during the games hasn’t missed a beat, which is reassuring considering the circumstances.
As for the Patriots, they are set to face off against the Carolina Panthers at Gillette Stadium this Sunday. The team’s record currently stands at 1-2, and it’s clear that everyone is hoping for a strong performance as they navigate this challenging time.
