Saleh on Jaguars’ Strategy
Robert Saleh has his doubts about what the Jaguars may bring to their upcoming game.
As the San Francisco 49ers prepare to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, defensive coordinator Saleh expressed concerns over Jaguars head coach Liam Cohen’s “signal type system.” He mentioned this system is quite complex and allows the Jaguars to optimize their strategies.
“Liam and his team come from Minnesota, and they’ve developed a really clever way to signal that often plays to their advantage,” Saleh noted during a press conference. “They excel at uncovering little insights that can change a game.”
Saleh emphasized the importance of communication and signaling to counteract what the Jaguars might exploit during the game. It’s crucial for his team to be on point.
He remarked on Cohen’s background as a former pupil of Rams head coach Sean McVay, underlining that what the Jaguars do isn’t against any rules. “Their coaching tree, especially from McVay, is impressive. They have a knack for putting us in tough positions. We just need to focus on playing solid football to minimize their advantages,” Saleh added.
When approached about Saleh’s comments, Cohen responded rather nonchalantly, saying his focus is just on the upcoming game. “I can’t dive into that right now,” he said. “We have a crucial matchup this weekend. We need to go after their defense and keep our mindset there.”
Cohen elaborated on the strategies his team is employing to ensure success on game day. “Coaching is about setting your players up to thrive. We’re working on formations and movements that will help them succeed, whether it’s attacking with formations or adapting to zone coverage.”
“It’s challenging but rewarding to prepare and find ways to put players in optimal positions,” Cohen concluded.
