Detective arrested for showing weapon to Long Island stripper.

Incident Involving NYPD Officer Outside Long Island Club

A peculiar situation unfolded outside the Jigle Joint in Long Island involving an NYPD officer and a stripper. It was reported that Ryan Olsen, 37, seemingly flashed a gun while asking the dancer a rather unsettling question: “Have you ever been shot?” This was during an encounter around 3 a.m. on September 19.

Olsen approached the 23-year-old woman, who was simply taking a break in her car. According to sources, he lifted his shirt, revealing the firearm tucked in his waistband. He then inquired about another dancer named Bambi, even asking the woman to text her, which she refused.

After refusing to assist, things escalated. There was an altercation in the parking lot, sources noted. Olsen, who works in the NYPD’s warrant division, reportedly tried to appear intimidating by showing off the weapon. When the dancer screamed for help and sought assistance from her boss, a strange scene was unfolding.

The situation drew the attention of Suffolk County police, who found surveillance footage that supported the dancer’s claims. The club’s management had little to say about the incident and had previously implemented security measures, like requiring driver’s licenses at the entrance.

Later, at a nearby bar, six strippers sat in a dimly lit space, already adorned for Halloween with decorations. When approached by a reporter, they declined to comment on the matter. Olsen, who graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2010 and earned $257,000 last year, pleaded not guilty to the charges related to this incident.

His attorney, Peter Brill, pointed out that Olsen had a respectable 15-year history with the NYPD, asserting his innocence until proven otherwise. However, the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is set to conduct an investigation, as is standard when an officer faces arrest. As a result of these charges, Olsen’s position could be at risk.

Olsen’s history shows that he faced 23 misconduct allegations, with nine substantiated. Recent issues included improper use of body cameras and misuse of authority during vehicle searches. He had even faced penalties, such as training sessions and lost holiday time, stemming from these complaints.
