British evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins has stated that “trans women are men,” arguing that transgender ideology is part of a broader movement that threatens scientific truth.
In an interview with London’s Daily telecommunications, Dawkins, an atheist and fellow at New College in Oxford, criticized the rise of postmodernism and transgender beliefs within academic circles.
“Both politics and personal feelings shouldn’t obstruct scientific truth. It’s vital to recognize this. I’m really concerned about the erosion of scientific fact,” he shared with a UK publication.
“I believe part of this stems from academia leaning toward postmodernism, which is damaging and could explain the current misguided belief that sex exists on a spectrum.”
“This postmodern arrogance wrongly dismisses science as merely a social construct. It’s almost comical how some think that feelings can alter reality.”
“I push back against the assertion ‘Trans women are women’ because it’s scientifically inaccurate. This viewpoint could infringe on the rights of others, particularly women,” he explained.
Dawkins elaborated, saying, “It logically entails the right to participate in women’s sports, access women’s changing rooms, and even women’s prisons.”
“This postmodern falsehood represents a situation in which media outlets shy away from calling ‘her penis’ what it is.”
Dawkins also expressed concerns about the influence of woke ideology in publishing, noting that younger staff increasingly dictate which ideas are endorsed or suppressed.
He described the transgender lobby as surprisingly aggressive and often very dogmatic.
“JK Rowling can fend for herself, but one can see how she was targeted at Sussex University.”
However, Dawkins optimistically mentioned, “At least in the UK, this trend seems to be waning.” In fact, a recent UK Supreme Court decision declared that “sex is binary,” affirming that individuals are either male or female.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission noted that this ruling implies that biological men should not be permitted in women-only spaces like hospitals and shops, regardless of any gender transition certifications.
This ruling followed a significant report from a leading pediatrician in the UK that stated “gender-affirmative care” for children, including puberty blockers, was based on “unstable foundations.”
