North Carolina Restaurant Shooting Arrest
A man was apprehended following a deadly shooting at a popular dockside restaurant in North Carolina on Saturday night. The incident occurred while Kelly Pickler, a former “American Idol” contestant, attended the country music awards event.
Nigel Edge, who changed his name to Sean De Bevoys in 2023, walked the red carpet in Marine uniforms in 2012, along with Pickler and her service dog, Rusty. They seemed to have a special bond that evening.
“Me and my date (Sgt. Sean De Bevoys),” Pickler shared on X, posting a picture of them together.
The event marked a memorable occasion for De Bevoys, as he was injured during his service in Iraq. He expressed his excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to be here for the CMT Music Awards with Kelly. She is the most sincere person I know. An angel.”
During their 2006 tour in Iraq, Marines like Edge faced multiple challenges, including two separate IED attacks.
Edge has since recovered from severe injuries. This most recent incident, however, raises serious concerns. North Carolina authorities reported that Edge, 39, is a combat veteran who may be dealing with PTSD, which could have contributed to the shooting.
The assault occurred at the American Fish Company restaurant in Southport Yacht Basin, located about 30 miles south of Wilmington. Edge reportedly opened fire on diners with a short-barreled AR rifle that had a restraining device.
He now faces three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, and five counts relating to the use of deadly weapons.
In past claims, Edge has suggested that he was the target of a conspiracy involving “LGBTQ white supremacists,” but the police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting on Saturday.
