Rocco Baldelli Out as Twins Manager After Seven Seasons
Rocco Baldelli is no longer the manager of the Minnesota Twins, marking the end of his seven-season tenure.
The announcement was made on Monday, following a lackluster season for the Twins, who finished at 70-92 in 2025. This marks their fourth missed postseason in five years, which is pretty disappointing, to say the least.
The club will now look for a new manager, with baseball operations president Derek Falvey and general manager Jeremy Zoll taking charge of the search and deciding on the coaching staff for 2026.
Falvey acknowledged the team’s struggles in a statement, saying, “The game ultimately measures success by results, and we didn’t meet the expectations we set over the last two years. I feel personally responsible for it. After discussions with ownership, I’ve decided this is the right time for a change in voice and direction. This decision is not a reflection of Rocco’s efforts or leadership but rather a belief that we need a new perspective to help us advance.”
Notably, this year is the first time since 2016 that the Twins have seen more than 90 losses in a season. Baldelli wraps up his run with a record of 527-505, making him the third-winningest manager in franchise history, trailing only Tom Kelly and Ron Gardenhire.
During his time, the Twins captured three American League Central titles and saw him awarded the American League Manager of the Year in 2019. As Falvey mentioned, “Rocco has been more than just our manager. He has been an important partner and teammate in leading this organization. Together, we achieved significant milestones in aiming to put the team in the best position for success.”
Back in June, there were reports that Baldelli’s contract options were being reviewed, but there was no official announcement confirming or rejecting those options at the time.
