Former Teacher Admits to Misconduct in Court
In a courtroom filled with tension, Madison Bergman, a 25-year-old former elementary school teacher from Wisconsin, broke down in tears as she faced the consequences of her actions involving an 11-year-old student.
Bergman pleaded guilty to one count of child enticement and two counts of sexual misconduct by school staff during a hearing on Monday. Along the way, she opted to dismiss several other charges, including first-degree sexual assault on a child and using a computer to facilitate sexual offenses involving minors. Other accusations were similarly set aside.
During the hearing, she was visibly emotional, dabbing her tears with a crumpled tissue. Video footage captured by local media showed her distress as she made her admission.
The disturbing details of the case came to light when the mother of the young boy overheard a conversation between her son and the teacher over the phone. Concerned, she examined his messages and discovered explicit text exchanges between the two, which included discussions about inappropriate encounters during lunch and after school in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Reportedly, Bergman expressed to the child how much she enjoyed their interactions, referring to them as kissing sessions.
After finding the troubling messages, the boy’s father confronted the school with printed evidence of the conversations.
When authorities searched Bergman’s classroom, they found a folder containing the boy’s name and handwritten notes that reflected their inappropriate relationship.
Initially set to marry in July 2024, Bergman’s engagement to Sam Hickman has now become clouded by the severity of the allegations.
Sentencing for Bergman is scheduled for December 22, 2025. As of now, her attorney has yet to provide any comments regarding the matter.
