Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) strongly denied allegations on Thursday that he physically harmed his ex-wife, following the release of photographs that purportedly document abuse during their contentious custody dispute.
Emily Moreno, Miller’s ex-wife and the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), has reportedly shared evidence of the alleged abuse through explicit selfies, which show bruises and burns she claims resulted from confrontations with the Republican representative.
The latest accusations emerged from an incident on February 1, when Moreno, 32, attempted to pick up their daughter, age two, at Miller’s residence in Ohio. Reports suggest an argument ensued, during which Miller, 37, allegedly struck Moreno multiple times in front of the child.
On the following day, Moreno took photos of her injuries in her bathroom, documenting the black and blue marks on her body.
The Bay Village Police Department received a report regarding child abuse the same day and has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, an incident was reported in which Miller allegedly threw boiling water at Moreno during a heated argument on June 9, 2024, resulting in burns on her chest. Moreno again documented her injuries with photographs.
One image reportedly shows her collar pulled down, revealing red marks on her upper chest. Sources indicate that their daughter was present during this incident as well.
Following the boiling water episode, Miller allegedly wrote a handwritten apology to Moreno, in which he expressed feelings of helplessness and frustration. His note included statements of love and remorse, but notably did not mention any physical abuse.
The couple sought a divorce two months after the boiling water incident.
Moreno’s attorney commented that the photographic evidence contradicts Miller’s long-standing denials. It seems that, despite Moreno’s desire to keep these matters private for their daughter’s sake, ongoing denials have forced her to speak out.
Miller responded to the allegations in a lengthy social media post, asserting that Moreno needs assistance and claiming that she is more focused on damaging him than on the welfare of their child.
He also shared doorbell camera footage purportedly showing Moreno leaving and then returning to her home with their daughter on the day of the alleged assault. In his account, he claimed love was expressed during their exit.
Initially, Miller testified that his girlfriend was home during the alleged incident but later retracted that statement.
He made available an audio recording from an earlier incident where Moreno seems to praise him, suggesting he would never physically harm her.
Miller, elected in 2022, previously held various roles during the Trump administration and has been involved in another defamation dispute connected to his former girlfriend, former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.
In a private audio recording released by Miller, Moreno appears to dismiss Grisham’s accusations of abuse as unjustified.
Representatives for both Miller and Moreno have yet to comment on these recent developments.
