Mamdani Will Be Among the Best Things to Happen to Our Great Republican Party

Trump Challenges New York City Mayoral Candidate Mamdani

On Monday, former President Donald Trump intensified his criticism of Zoran Mamdani, a candidate for New York City mayor, following the withdrawal of incumbent Eric Adams from the race. This move adds to Trump’s ongoing series of interactions with various Democratic socialists.

In a post regarding the True Society, Trump stated, “Zoran Mamdani, a New York City communist running for mayor, proves to be one of the best things that have happened to our great Republican Party. He has always failed for thousands of years.” His remarks reflect persistent commentary on Mamdani, who won the Democratic primary in July.

After Mamdani’s victory, Trump referred to him as “a 100% communist madman.” Prominent Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Chuck Schumer also remarked on his candidacy. With over 43% of the major votes, Mamdani symbolizes a significant moment in American political history, according to Trump, particularly due to his connections with democratic socialists.

In July, addressing Mamdani’s public stance against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Trump stated, “I was arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in detention camps and deported.” When questioned about Mamdani’s promises, Trump ominously suggested, “Well, we have to arrest him,” indicating that his administration was paying close attention to the candidate.

In response to reports of Trump possibly re-entering the political arena, Mamdani asserted, “I am Donald Trump’s worst nightmare as a progressive Muslim immigrant who genuinely fights for what I believe.”

Mamdani has garnered support from within the Democratic Party itself. In September, Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her backing for Mamdani, emphasizing their shared commitment to a safe New York for children in neighborhoods. In reaction, Trump criticized Hochul, labeling her support for Mamdani as “a rather shocking development and a very bad development for New York City.”

The mayoral race has become more complex with former Mayor Eric Adams’ exit on September 28. Following Adams’ decision, Mamdani pointed out that while Trump and his “billionaire donors” might influence other candidates, “they won’t decide this election.”
