Don Lemon’s Controversial Comments on Violence
Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has sparked conversation with a striking and contentious rant on his podcast, where he implies that white individuals are at the core of America’s violence issues.
“Are you okay, white man? You’re deploying the military and National Guard in the city,” he stated during the episode. “You often discuss crime in places like Chicago, particularly focusing on black people. But I’m curious: Are white men alright? Because they’re the real issue here,” he continued.
Lemon went on to address the persistent violence in the country, alluding to public tragedies where the assailant often shares a similar demographic profile. “We continue to witness the aftermath of violence unfolding in public spaces, and it seems the face behind the gun rarely changes,” he remarked.
The 59-year-old, who is married to a white man, reiterated his stance, saying, “This is the truth, and I don’t care if it angers anyone.”
This impassioned discourse occurred alongside his comments regarding federal deployments to address mass shootings in cities led by Democratic officials in North Carolina and Michigan.
“Something is definitely broken within you, white man. I hope you’re listening, and I want it loud enough for others to hear,” he asserted, directing his remarks at white American men specifically.
His statements have garnered considerable backlash online. One commentator on TikTok noted, “Don Lemon claims white men are ‘broken’ and they think ‘violence is the answer.’ This is pure racism,” while others criticized him for perceived hypocrisy, referencing his marriage to Tim Malone, a white man, and sharing images of the couple.
Lemon and Malone wed last year in an elegant ceremony in Manhattan, five years after their engagement. Once a prominent face on CNN, Lemon experienced a sudden exit from the network following various controversies.
In a previous discussion on social media, he expressed shock at being informed of his departure from CNN by his agent rather than management. “After 17 years, I learn from my agent that I’m no longer with CNN. You’d think someone would have spoken to me directly,” he shared.
However, CNN later pushed back against his assertion, claiming he was given an opportunity to meet with management before making his statement on Twitter.
Prior to his dismissal, Lemon had faced criticism when he made comments regarding GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley, suggesting she was past her prime. Tensions escalated during an incident where he reportedly clashed with co-host Kaitlan Collins, leading to a heated exchange.
After leaving CNN, Elon Musk extended an offer for Lemon to host a show on X, but that project was scrapped before it ever aired. Shortly after negotiations began, Musk decided against proceeding with the show.
Since then, Lemon has transitioned into an independent media figure, launching his podcast, The Don Lemon Show.
