Trump Addresses Military Leaders at Quantico
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump expressed his unwavering support for the U.S. military during a meeting with senior Marine leaders at the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia. He shared what he described as a “very simple” message: “We’re a team, so my message to you is very simple. I’m with you, I support you, and as president, I have 100% of your back.”
He emphasized the importance of rekindling the “warrior spirit,” drawing parallels to historic military figures like George S. Patton, Omar Bradley, and Douglas MacArthur.
Trump noted positive trends in recruitment across the Navy, Air Force, and Space Force, stating they have met or exceeded their targets—unlike the challenges faced during the Biden administration. He pointed out the reforms his administration is implementing within the military.
“We focus on fitness, ability, personality, and strength,” he stated. “And that’s because the purpose of the U.S. military is not to protect anyone’s feelings. It’s to protect our Republic.”
During his remarks, Trump criticized a shift towards political correctness, which he claimed has detracted from the military’s accomplishments and leadership.
He added, “The equipment in our country was not set up for merit; it was set for political correctness, and if you’re going to do it, you can never do great.” He underscored that the military should not prioritize political correctness when it comes to defending freedom: “We want to fight. We want to win, and we want to fight as much as possible.”
