Tyreek Hill, the wide receiver for the Dolphins, had a bewildering reaction after suffering a serious leg injury during a 27-21 win over the Jets on “Monday Night Football.”
Despite his injury, Hill was seen smiling and waving at the crowd while being carried off the field at Hard Rock Stadium, even as Miami led 10-3 in the third quarter.
It left many scratching their heads. His left leg got tangled when he caught an important third-down pass, and it was a sudden turn of events.
“I got up this morning feeling worse than Tyreek Hill did after that awful injury,” one person commented on X.
“It’s odd to see him smiling. I’m honestly shocked,” another remarked.
According to ESPN, the All-Pro receiver had to remove his cleat and put his leg in a stabilizer.
Reports say that Hill dislocated his knee, which tore his ACL along with other ligaments, necessitating surgery on Tuesday. He might need multiple surgeries to address the damage.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, shared photos from the hospital, showing Hill with his parents, Derrick Shaw and Anesha Sanchez, by his side.
“You got this @cheetah,” Rosenhaus posted.
Hill gave a thumbs-up in another hospital snapshot, which he shared with a peace sign and a red heart on Instagram.
In yet another video, Hill asked for prayers as he prepared for surgery. “We’re heading in for the surgery. Please keep me in your thoughts,” he said. “The support from everyone, especially Fin’s Nation, has been incredible. I appreciate all the love.”
Hill’s contract includes a per-game active roster bonus of $1.8 million for 2025, as reported by Spotrac.
Looking ahead to 2026, it’s uncertain if he will receive the $36 million due that year.
If Hill remains on the Dolphins’ roster by March, he will secure a guaranteed $5 million roster bonus, in addition to $11 million, which totals around $29.9 million, as noted by NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
The Dolphins (1-3) are set to take on the Panthers (1-3) this Sunday.
