A former Biden staffer seemed unprepared to defend his own report, which suggested he would challenge the U.S. by funding “safe spaces” managed by LGBT community members, including those termed “secondary disease.”
During a Senate Judiciary Committee session, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) posed an unusual question to Gregory Jackson Jr., a former vice-chairman in the Biden White House.
Jackson read about reimbursing police, though he seemed to exclude certain aspects of his “Policy Maker Playbook.” Hawley questioned whether the approach was sensible, especially given the context of a Blue City trying to adapt. Jackson, however, refuted the notion that he should compensate for the policy despite his earlier statements.
“You’re the one who called for police reimbursement while heading your current organization,” Hawley responded.
“This just shows the pattern of failure among Democrats, which has resulted in the loss of countless American lives. And now you claim you’re unaware of any police refund. But your own report suggests it right after the previous page.”
“What we should really consider is investing—not in police funding, but in safe spaces and programs that address specific needs.”
Hawley emphasized, “…led by lesbians, gays, bisexuals, two-spirits, trans, and gender-nonconforming individuals. But what is two-spirit?”
Jackson hesitated to respond, asserting that Republicans were “cherry-picking quotes.” Yet, Hawley pointed out that those phrases came from Jackson’s own report.
“In examining the report, the recommended focus on outreach workers and investments in violent intervention…” Jackson stated, while Hawley reminded him once more that it stressed prioritizing two-spirit community programs.
“What do you mean by two spirits? No funding for police means we’re channeling resources into safe spaces for two spirit individuals. But, honestly, I’m unclear about what that entails,” Jackson admitted.
“I don’t fully grasp the terminology,” he added, and Hawley noted that Jackson authored that very report.
“You wrote the report,” Hawley asserted. “You’ve been called as a witness by the Democrats, so you reflect their stance.”
As the exchange heated up, Jackson remarked, “It feels like there’s a duality here because you’re referencing…” but Hawley interrupted.
“No, you’re reading your own words, and I want a straightforward answer. There is an answer, but it seems you have none. You prefer to invest in vague notions while diverting funds from the officers ensuring our safety. This policy is absurd.”
