Tragic Murder in Los Angeles
A man in Los Angeles has reportedly killed his wife, citing her struggles to shed weight after childbirth as a factor. The victim, identified as a 37-year-old woman named June, was found dismembered.
Jonathan Renteria, 25, allegedly confessed to the crime through a handwritten letter, expressing remorse for taking June’s life. He wrote, “My wife, Renteria, in June, has passed away in her apartment. I’ll kill her. I’m really sorry.”
Authorities discovered her remains on September 11th at a hotel in Ventura County, where she was found in a bathtub.
Incident reports indicate that police were alerted to a potential issue when a foul odor was detected from their apartment. Upon entering, they found June’s body.
Surveillance footage showed the couple leaving their residence with their one-year-old child approximately five days prior to this discovery.
Renteria was treated in a hospital for injuries before being interviewed by police, where he admitted to the murder. He mentioned being in an argument with June over her post-pregnancy weight, stating that she had threatened to keep their daughter away from him.
He acknowledged using a chokehold technique he had learned in jiu-jitsu, which was confirmed to have resulted in her death due to a traumatic neck injury.
Additionally, Renteria allegedly sent an email to his father, confessing, “The only thing I could do in that moment was to suffocate her. And I held it as long as I could until my arm came out. I was scared of myself. After this, I took a lot of drugs to get through it.”
Charges against Jonathan Renteria include murder and mutilation of a human body, with bail set at $4 million.
He had met June on social media, eventually prompting her to move from Scotland to the U.S. She had aspirations of becoming a defense attorney after earning a law degree.
A crowdfunding page has been established to support her family, highlighting her achievements and dedication to her career.
